Wallington High School Band
The Wallington Jr./Sr. High School Band was founded in 1954 by Mr. Wallace Balicki and has since grown into an organization of over 50 students. Over our long history the band has performed in a number of states, parades, festivals, and competitions.
Various ensembles are currently offered to all students in grades 7 through 12. In addition, band classes are offered for students in grades 7, 8, and two sections for students in grades 9-12. The band performs at the annual winter and spring concerts as well as many other school functions throughout the year.
Any student interested in joining the high school band should contact the band director, Mr. Lopuzzo at lopuzzo@wboe.org or by stopping in the Band Room.
The Wallington Marching Band
The Wallington High School Marching Band was originally founded by Band Director Fernando Arace in the late 1950s. The band continued to grow in the 1960s and 1970s under the direction of Bill Costa and marched regularly at all WHS Football Games, town parades, and in New York City for the Pulaski Day Parade.
Unfortunately, marching band numbers dwindled in the late 1990s and early 2000s and the marching was disbanded.
In the fall of 2018, the Wallington Marching Band returned after 10 years and performed once again at a Wallington High Football Game. The newly organized band consisted of 41 members and high stepped proudly down the field at WHS.
The Wallington Marching Band is open to all WHS students in grades 7-12 and is always looking to recruit new members. The marching band participates in the Wallington Memorial Day Parade and other town functions.
Our band marches in a distinctive high step style similar to that of Big 10 Marching Bands like Michigan State and Ohio State.
High School Chorus
The WHS Choir is an elite group of dedicated singers who study music through the art of singing. Students meet once a week for rehearsal after school and during school for additional sectionals. We perform at 2 concerts per year as well as additional field trips such as Dorney Park. Our repetoire includes modern music, classical, jazz, and accapella.
Elementary Instrumental Music

The Instrumental Program at the F.W Gavlak School consists of the 4th and 5th/6th Grade Concert Bands, as well as the new addition to the program, Little Kids Rock!
Members of the Concert Bands meet in school for both Large Group Sectionals and Small Group Lessons. These serve to supplement the After School Rehearsals, where we prepare repertoire recognized as standards for the Concert Band. Band provides an excellent opportunity for students to work together to problem solve, express themselves musically, as well as create a musical product that we can all be proud of.
Elementary General Music

Students in grades k-6 will receicve one music class per week. Students will learn the basics of music, singing skills, important music history, as well as basic composition skills! This is done through a curriculum designed to engage and energize students into the art of music. The goal for the vocal music class is to give students a chance to explore music and get interested! It is very exciting that students in grades k-3 will also have an additional "Intro to Instruments" class once a week as well. Students in 5th and 6th grade have a chance to get even more involved if they ellect to be a part of band or chorus. Those are extracurricular activities. Little Kids Rock! or 'rock band' is offered as an enrichment program.
Little Kids Rock
Little Kids Rock Enrichment
Little Kids Rock is a new addition to F.W Gavlak´s Instrumental Program! Little Kids Rock is a revolutionary Music Program that develops a Modern Band. In other words, an ensemble that contains Guitars, Pianos, Drums, etc. as opposed to Clarinets, Saxophones, French Horns, and Trombones. As well as containing instruments that are more accessible to students, the Modern Band performs popular music from the 1950s-2010s using a common set of chords. These sets of chords allow the students to perform music from The Rays, The Beatles, led Zepline, Michael Jackson, The Spice Girls, Akon, and Eminem.
